Can polyamide strips thermally break aluminium extrusion assemblies?
Yes.
Structural insulating polyamide strips have been utilised for thermally breaking aluminium extrusion assemblies for over 30 years and have been in use in North America for over adecade.
Polyamide strips are available with many configurations to meet different performance specifications. Creating a thermal break utilising a polyamide strip system entails a 3-step process.

What is a thermal break strip?
Thermal break strip, also called heat insulation strip, is a part of aluminum bridge profile. The heat-insulating bridge aluminum-plastic profile can realize the three-way sealing structure of doors and windows, and reasonably separate the water vapor chamber. It successfully realizes the pressure equalization of gas and water, and significantly improves the watertightness and airtightness of the doors and windows.
Characteristic of polyamide strips
Polyamide thermal breaks are extruded in a dry state, but they absorb moisture from the environment after the production as time passes. Moisture level depends on the following conditions:
- Ambient temperature
- Ambient humidity
- Storage period
During the summer time, when the temperature and humidity in the storage area are higher than usual, the insulating profiles absorb more moisture than in the remaining seasons, even when stored properly.

Delivery
We have the production capacity of 100,000 metres per day. For common specifications, we have moulds, and they will be shipped in 7-15 working days after receiving the deposit.
Packages
For all specifications/shapes, they could be packaged in linear, the length will be 6 meters, or customized.
For the Shape "I", "C", and some simple shapes, they can be packed in rolls. 400-600 meters/roll.

1. The working temperature of the thermal insulation strip is 200°C. This enables a coating process after assembly of composite profiles.
2. High mechanical strength, able to connect with metal hardware fittings when bearing draw and shear stress.
3. Excellent product tolerance of less than 0.1mm, ensuring air and water tightness and overall composite profile dimensions.
4. High corrosion resistance, weather resistance, heat resistance, alkali resistance and long life of usage.
5. The thermal expansion coefficient of PA66GF25 is similar to aluminium, thus ensuring that the product does not affect the integrity of the thermally insulated aluminium profiles.
6. Precise dimensions ensure the lifespan of aluminium extrusion tools, with no danger of bending or cracks during rolling, a very good knurling effect at the hammer head and ease of assembly.
