There are many kinds of plastic extrusion machine in Chinese market, some for profiles, some for pipes, some for sheet and so on.
If you want to produce PA66 thermal break strips, then you have to select the specific extruder for PA66 thermal break strips.
First, check the screw of the extruder--it should be single-screw.
Single-screw extruders are mainly used in the plastic extrusion of pipes, plates, profiles and so on.
Twin screw extruders are widely used for physical and chemical modification of matrix resins, such as filling, reinforcement, toughening, reactive extrusion, etc.
Second, check the material of the machine screw.
According to different materials and processing methods, machine screws can be divided into several types, such as nitriding screw, electroplating screw, single allow screw and dual alloy screws.
Because the raw material of the PA66 thermal break strip contains fiberglass, and fiberglass is very hard, it can wear on the machine screws. So special attention should be paid to the material when selecting machine screws.
The correct screw material will enhance the plasticization of PA66GF25 material and increase the service life of the screw.
Incorrect screw material will reduce the service life of the screw.
Third, check the length to diameter(L/D) ratio.
The L/D ratio is the ratio of the length of machine screw and the diameter of the machine screw.
If the L/D ratio is too large, the residence time of PA66GF25 material at high temperatures will increase, which can easily cause thermal decomposition. In addition, it will also increase the bending deflection of the screw head, causing the screw to be eccentric and resulting in uneven clearance, and even causing scraping between the screw and the sleeve.
If the L/D ratio is too small, the PA66GF25 material cannot be mixed evenly, and the plasticizing effect is not good, leading to difficulty in producing strips.
The selection of screw L/D ratio should be based on the performance of the raw material and the requirements for product quality.
Forth, check the compression ratio.
The compress ratio is the ratio of the feed zone channel depth to the metering zone channel depth.
The compress ratio affects how much heat and pressure applied to the PA66GF25 material.
If the compress ratio is wrong, there will be too much friction, pressure and heat and the PA66GF25 material may become faulty, which lead to unqualified PA66 thermal break strips.
Fifth, check the reduction ratio.
The reduction ratio of a gear reducer is an important factor that can affect the performance and efficiency of a mechanical system.
Generally speaking, the larger the reduction ratio, the lower the output speed of the gear reducer, but it will consume more energy and increase the volume and weight of the machine. On the other hand, the smaller the reduction ratio, the higher the output speed of the gear reducer, but it consumes less energy and reduces the volume and weight of the machine.
Therefore, when choosing a gear reducer, the size of the reduction ratio should be determined according to the actual application requirements in order to achieve the best performance and efficiency.
Sixth, check the transmission mode.
There are two common transmission modes in plastic extruders: direct drive mode and belt drive mode.
For the belt drive mode, it is more widely used in the field of plastic extruders because of its simple structure and low cost. Moreover, because the belt slides on the pulley, this transmission mode can also protect other components when the machine is overloaded.
For the direct drive mode, due to its feature of high transmission efficiency and lossless transmission, even low-power motors can meet the operational requirements of the machine. So this transmission mode is more energy-efficient and power-saving. Its disadvantages are high cost, high requirements for manufacturing accuracy and installation accuracy.
Seventh, check the motor.
There are two common types of motor. One is three phase asynchronous motor, the other is servo motor.
Three phase asynchronous motor is matched with belt drive mode. Servo motor is matched with direct drive mode.
For three-phase asynchronous motors:
Its advantages are simple structure, low price, and good operating performance.
Its disadvantages are difficult speed regulation, high starting current, and high operating losses.
For serve motor:
The advantages are high displacement accuracy, energy saving, precise closed-loop control, wide speed range, and good system reliability.
The disadvantage is their high price.
Especially when you want to produce thermal break strips with very complex shapes, you need to start the extruder at low speed and maintain a stable speed even at low speeds. Three phase asynchronous motors cannot guarantee a stable speed of operation at low speeds, so servo motors are your better choice at this time.
Eighth, check the temperature control meter.
Famous temperature control meter brands include OMRON, RKC, HONEYWELL, JUMO and so on.
